Bringing prevention to the forefront; making the 16 Life Safety Initiatives a reality, and recruiting and retaining more qualified, safe, and competent men of color and women, require leaders in the fire service who can master the process of change. FIRE 20/20 has designed a workshop that covers the concepts and skills command staff and company officers can apply in their departments to facilitate change and ensure it takes hold. The know-how in this workshop comes from leaders within Fire/EMS who have led effective change. Managing Change in the Fire Service will be available November 2008.
FIRE 20/20 will work with your department to identify and map multicultural communities’ risk factors, incident data, demographics, languages, leaders, social organizations, gathering places, and faith institutions. This data will increase first responder and civilian safety and enhance the reach and effectiveness of both emergency and non-emergency services.
FIRE 20/20 will organize and facilitate focus groups where Fire/EMS and multicultural community members come together to learn from one another. These focus groups can be used to gather customer service feedback, do needs analysis to identify fire and life safety risks and co-design prevention and recruitment programs.
